Devlog 10: Polishing until it shines
Well hello there! Who could've imagined these past couple of months would've flown by the way they did? Well, we certainly didn't. This past week was our second to last one working on this project, and man, has it been an adventure. Next week you'll have the final demo build in your hands, and we, well we will need to say our goodbyes to this project.
But until then, we can still talk about some of the polishing we've been doing!
Some Final Deco
You know we already had a lot of decorations going, but some of them started to become repetitive. To combat that, we made another 4 posters, and a plethora of new wall cracks that are more suited for the tiled walls of the backstage area. 3 of the new poster designs also got a "torn" mask to give them some love and age. These small details did prove useful for making the space just that little bit more finished.
More Effects!
We already had quite a bit of effects going on already, but who can say no to more? Our spy now has a glowing footprint effect following them, the hacked objects get a quick visual cue to show they're being hacked, the guards now curse at you after giving up the chase, and etc.
All in all, these effects prove useful to give the player some more visual feedback whenever possible.
Sounds
We also added new background music and a hacking sound effect for when you hack objects around the level.
Programming
We fixed several bugs for stun gun and started working on the death animation. Right now the animation will play but the animation still goes through walls. We are still working on polishing this part. There is still one issue with the stun gun, when a guard chases you, it has difficulty finding the guard. These bugs will be fixed by next week!
We made sure you don't need to click into the command box anymore and the menu's are navigatable using either keyboard or controller so that the mouse is completely ruled out of the game. We have made progress on adding haptic feedback, but there are still some issues that need solving before it is also included ingame.
